Frequently Asked Questions

A: Q: Do you do long-distance moves?

A: Yes! We are fully authorized/licensed(MC-68080) by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety administration to transport and provide service on household goods shipments from one State to another. We can also take you between points in Pennsylvania as well. (License/certificate A-8920601)

Q: Is wrapping my TVs, large pictures just in bubble wrap okay?

A: The only way that these types of items will be 100% safe during transport, whether hundreds of miles away, or even just across town, is if they are appropriately packaged. Our professional assessment for these items is that bubble wrap and/or blanket wrapping them is simply not enough. Our intention is to treat 100% of your items appropriately 100% of the time. Our expert teams are committed to making sure these fragile and precious items arrive safely at your destination.

Q: Are you affiliated with any other companies or organizations?

A: We are a member of the Better Business Bureau and currently hold an A+ rating. And not only are we members of the Pennsylvania state trade associations, but we are also AMSA members and partners with Move for Hunger.

Q: How do you charge for services?

A: All moves that are 40 miles or less with both the origin and destination being within the borders of the State of Pennsylvania are charged by the hour. That hourly rate is dependant on the number of crew members needed to safely and successfully complete that move. Any moves that are 41 miles or more, and the origin and destination is between points in Pennsylvania, must be charged by weight and mileage. For Interstate moves(State to State), The U.S DOT allows movers to charge either by weight and mileage(non-binding estimate) or a flat rate(binding estimate). We offer binding estimates on all Interstate moves. Please note that binding estimates are not allowed for long-distance moves(over 40 miles) between points within the borders of the State of Pennsylvania as per PA Public utility law see the information for shippers document.

Q: Do you have employees, or do you use temporary workers?

A: We have W-2 employees and carry workers’ compensation.

Q: If your employees are injured while working in my home, am I responsible for their medical bills?

A: No. Our company carries workers compensation as required by law, and we are totally responsible for any work-related injuries to our moving team during the performance of their duties. We do not use day labor or casual workers.

Q: Are you insured?

A: Yes. When a moving company is a licensed Motor Carrier, this automatically means that they carry the necessary cargo and motor truck liability insurance. Having these insurances is one of the state and federal government’s primary inquiries when granting licensing to moving companies.

Q: Can you give guaranteed pricing?

A: On Interstate moves, yes we absolutely can and always do! On moves between points in Pennsylvania, the Public Utility Commission requires that local moves be charged primarily on an hourly rate basis, and moves going over 40 miles be billed primarily according to weight. We value your vote of confidence in our company with your hard-earned dollars. Therefore, we will estimate responsibly and with integrity. Our sales staff will go over time and cost scenarios for your move. There will be no surprises on your final bill with us.

Q: What types of customers have you worked with?

A: Since we are primarily a residential mover, we move everyday families like yours. We also perform government & corporate employee relocation, office moves, senior moves and more!

Q: How would I know if a moving company is legitimate?

A: According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), a growing number of complaints have been filed against movers lately – many of which are due to the “fraudulent practices… of rogue movers.” Minimize the risk of moving-day delays, damages, inflated charges, or loss of possessions by hiring legal, certified movers.

Q: Can my belongings be temporarily stored at your location?

A: We can provide short-term or long-term storage for you. We can also store your belongings on our trucks overnight if for example, the closings on your home are both on the same day.

Q: Do you have temperature controlled, indoor storage?

A: Anytime we store your items, it is always indoor, climate controlled and secure.

Q: Do I still need an estimate?

A: Your moving needs are as unique as you, and every client is different. We will be able to give you a more customized recommendation during your personal quote. And, with all that you have going on during the moving process, the last thing you want is a surprise on your moving bill. Getting an accurate estimate in writing from us is the best way to have peace of mind.

Q: Do you also give quotes for long-distance moves?

A: Long-distance and nationwide cross-country moves are quoted on a case-by-case basis in a single all-inclusive estimate.

Q: Are your quotes binding?

A: The PA PUC does not allow binding pricing for moves within Pennsylvania. For Interstate moves, the USDOT does allow movers to give binding estimates, and we do perform most Interstate service under a binding quote.

Q: Do I need to empty my dresser drawers?

A: It depends. If there are any breakable items, or non soft goods (books/magazines/etc), they must be removed. If there are just clothes and soft items in the drawers there is no need. The only exception to this is if the piece has inherent instability, or is made of particle board. In this case, the piece must be completely emptied.

Q: How about labor only services?

A: Yes we do have labor-only crews available if you simply need heavy lifting or man-power to help with loading or unloading furniture, trucks, PODS, storage units, trailers, shipping containers, and more!

Q: How far in advance should I schedule my move?

A: The earlier the better! 4 weeks is what we usually prefer, but if you plan on moving during our peak times which is summer, end of the month or a weekend, please call us 6 weeks before your planned date.

Q: What should I keep with me on my moving day?

A: Keep with you anything you or your family will use on the day of your move with you. Common items include snacks, toilet paper, paper towel, phone chargers, a change of clothes, toothbrush/toothpaste, and your kids’ favorite toys. Additionally, medications, important paperwork (e.g., birth certificates and social security cards), and anything highly valuable or sentimental (jewelry, credit cards, bank account information, etc.) should be set aside. On your moving day, place these essential items in a box or bag that you’ll carry with you to your new home.

Q: What do I need to do to prepare my appliances for the move?

A: The moving crew will wrap these items in moving blankets to protect them on the truck. However, you should make certain that your dishwasher, microwave, and washing machine are empty. Additionally, movers are not electricians or plumbers – you need to arrange for the appropriate professional to disconnect your washer, chandeliers, and refrigerator from any electric and/or water connection. Most importantly, movers are not licensed to disconnect gas.

Q: Can the crew members arrange the furniture to my liking in my new home?

A: Absolutely. Just instruct the crew members on where you want the specifics placed and we can help. Having a plan in mind before arriving at your new home can save time and money.

Q: What if I discover damaged or missing items?

A: Our team is highly experienced in the care of household goods. We do have a less than 1% claims rate. But in the event damage does happen, the driver will go over and notate everything on your moving paperwork. This will then be processed in a timely manner by our claims processor to get settlement out to you quickly.

Q: How do I change my address?

A: You can change your address with the US Post Office online.
*Visit the website usps.com/move.
*Follow the steps to fill out your change of address information with the post office.

Q: What are the accepted payment methods?

A: We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, certified checks and cash (US currency)

Q: Do you have hidden fees or charges?

A: We pride ourselves on having no hidden fees and being all-inclusive. Once you receive your free estimate, we are confident you will feel secure in slecting us to be your mover.

Q: Do you require deposits?

A: For moves within PA, we require a $50 deposit. If you are moving out of State, the deposit is just $100. These amounts are regardless of the cost of your move.

Q: Do I tip the movers?

A: Tipping is never expected, but always appreciated! Although our movers are trained to never ask for tips from customers, they are allowed to accept tips should customers feel inclined for the hard work they received. In regards to what amount to tip the movers, we encourage customers to tip whatever they feel is necessary for the job that was completed. *tips are given directly to the movers, and do not constitute as payment of the bill.
